It is with great pride Dave Smallwood, Director of Instruction at the Golf Performance Centre at Whistle Bear GC along with PGA of Canada Professional Mike Martz, announces the 2016/17 Whistle Bear Junior Performance Team. The team program is moving into the 11th year of developing some of the finest junior golfers in the Ontario and Canada. The team keeps stamping out elite junior golfers, tournament champions, award winners, scholarship recipients and fine young men and women. To date we have placed over 28 juniors on USA Scholarships and have developed numerous players who have moved on to play golf at Canadian Universities and Colleges.
“Every year we have new members that fill in for those who have graduated the program and I am so excited about the crop of new juniors this season. I am thrilled to welcome them and all those returning players and am anticipating great development and many proud moments again this coming season” stated Smallwood.
Team members will enjoy membership privileges at Whistle Bear GC as well as professional training with Coaches Martz and Smallwood. They will also round out their development with strength and conditioning Coach Angella Lee as well as mental training with Sport Psychologist Dr. Rich Ennis.
Team members will be working hard during the winter months to prepare for a very busy summer of competition that will see players compete all over the world. In 2016 the Whistle Bear Junior Team members travelled to championships in Arizona, Florida, Australia, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and New York state.
The goal of the Whistle Bear Junior Performance team is to identify and target talented athletic junior golfers and provide them with all the necessary tools to advance their golf careers to the highest level possible.
Team members will be exposed to the best in coaching, golf facility, practice facility, mental training, strength & conditioning, equipment testing, competition scheduling and on course training in a fun team atmosphere.
